When I lived in Illinois I formed the Northern Illinois Waterfowl Association and was Acting Vice President for a period of two years before I moved to Iowa. Presently I have brought Mo Valley water fowlers of the Forney Lake area together to form a group that would help in the restoration and enhancement of Forney Lake. Have conducted meetings with the Iowa DNR and water fowlers to implement a short term management plan for the Forney Lake project and have formed a committee that is and will continue to work with the Iowa DNR on the long term Management (Solution)-project for Forney Lake. The group meets the first Saturday of every month.

Have written many position papers on waterfowl - conservation issues that have been published in News papers and even promoted on outdoor radio. Have personally rough drafted 2 legislative Bills SF2395 now SF1224 & SF2155. I actively seek recreational water fowlers input and encourage support and participation as was most evident with getting 2 legislative Bills written and submitted in a single year. Wrote a legislative proposal for the First Iowa Native Song Bird Stamp that would support non-game species habitat restoration, enhancement and protection, even of native habitat.

Have attended Farm Bill Hearings and have submitted a Key program to Senator Harkin called B22. It is presently a working program in California and is run by the USFW service. My hope is to duplicate the program in Iowa. Presently continue to promote HF2797 Iowa's Sustainable Conservation Funding Bill to include and identify increase CREP funding and NAWCA Support.

In most cases of legislation and of conservation issues, I have actively sought broad based support from recreation sportsmen, Bird Hunters and waterfowlers, fishermen and bird watchers. I have had the knack I guess for communicating the mission or purpose of vital issues. If not able to explain in one form, will explain in another form that may make things more simple in terms. This has brought great understanding and has provided greater support and active participation by said groups and individuals.
