Daniel C. Fuhrman

Leawood, Kansas

Dan Fuhrman resides in Leawood, Kansas, with his wife of 38 years, Donna. They have lived in the Kansas City area for the past 34 years. He is currently Chairman of Schutte Lumber Company in Kansas City, Missouri.

Mr. Fuhrman started his professional career with Snowden-Mize Drug Company in a sales position prior to becoming overall Sales Manager. When the drug company was sold, he continued his employment with Snowden-Mize and was charged with opening and overseeing the operation of 13 boutique shops at Crown Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was elected the first President of the Crown Center Retail Association.

Dan and Donna moved from Atchison to Kansas City in 1973 as he continued to direct the boutique operations until 1975. At that time, he began selling The Athlete's Foot franchise for Snowden-Mize Companies, Inc. In 18 months, the franchise operation grew from two to fifty-two locations. He subsequently purchased his own The Athlete’s Foot franchise and resigned from Snowden-Mize in 1978.

In June of 1997, he and Donna purchased the Schutte Lumber Company in Kansas City, MO. In 2003, they had a devastating fire that destroyed 90% of their facility, leaving only their showroom and the milling operation in tact. We were able to open for business within a few weeks of the fire and began reconstruction in April 2004. Completing 11 storage buildings along the way, they moved into their new corporate office on August 1st of 2005.

Mr. Fuhrman has served on numerous school and organization boards. He is former president of the Central Industrial District Association, the Kansas City Industrial Council, and the Missouri-Arkansas River Association.
