Wanda Wallyce Wells (Crowe)

Crow Creek Sioux Tribe

Wanda is a member of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe and has worked for or with the tribe in various capacities for the last 20 years. She currently serves as the Tribe’s Finance Officer, having just completed her tenure as the Program Director for the Special Diabetes Program for Indians. She established the Crow Creek Historical Society in October 2004 and served as its Program Manager for almost two years. She planned and coordinated Lewis and Clark Bicentennial grants for South Dakota tribes and the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe, including an art show and auction, and conference and treaty meeting.

Wanda's interests include promoting the health, social and economic status, the political advancement and cultural preservation of American Indians and the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe. To that end Wanda represents the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe on national, regional, tribal and local boards and has served on three South Dakota’s Department of Health Advisory Committees. From 1990-1995, she was a member of the Native Women's Reproductive Rights Coalition Speakers Bureau. She attended the University of South Dakota where she earned a B.A. in Sociology and minored in Alcohol/Drug Abuse Studies and Indian Studies.
